Battle of Saratoga - The Gentleman’s Magazine (Rag) -12/01/1777
Fought in Sept. and Oct., 1777. British commander General John Burgoyne with 7,800 British and allied troops invaded N.Y. from Canada. The American army and militia from four states comprised of 15,000 troops and commanded by Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold gave battle resulting in the death, wounded, and missing of 1,600 British and the capture of 6,000. American loses amounted to 800 killed, wounded, or missing.
