Polk Elected

President Polk’s expansionist policies resulted in the acquisition of the Oregon Territory from Great Britain, the settlement of all Mexican claims to Texas, and the addition of New Mexico and California as a result of the Mexican/American War. Historians have generally considered Polk as one of America's "Ten Greatest Presidents."
