Death of Henry Clay

Henry Clay came to national prominence as leader of the ‘War Hawks’ who drove the country into the War of 1812. He served as Secretary of State under President John Q. Adams from 1825 to 1829. He was Kentucky’s State Senator from 1831 to 1842 and was the Whig Party Presidential candidate in 1844.
